What is Scalp Micropigmentation…
Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. The process takes 2-4 sessions, and the result creates the appearance of tiny hair follicles that help thicken and restore the look of fuller hair.
If you are starting to thin, recede, or experience balding, Scalp Micropigmentation treatment is a natural solution to create the look of thicker and denser hair, or a close-shaved haircut – depending on your needs.
What is Facial Micropigmentation…
Facial Micropigmentation (FMP) is the same exact concept and technique as Scalp Micropigmentation but is only used to build and create a natural full beard or correct any bald or thin patches in the beard.
This can also eliminate Alopecia Areata and Alopecia Totalis for those struggling with these issues.
If you struggle with any of these issues schedule your consultation so we can put an end to it once and for all with a natural real look of full facial hair.
Hair Density
For men and women with thinning hair, the same technique used in scalp micro pigmentation and scar camouflage is used to make thinning hair look thicker and fuller. By replicating follicle impressions under the hair on the scalp and building more and more density, it gives thinning hair the natural look of fullness and thickness.
Scar Camouflage
Hair transplant scars are no longer something to hide or be self-conscious of as scalp micro pigmentation can now help permanently camouflage and conceal them. By using a special blending technique with carbon-based pigment matched up with your hair color, needle impressions are made on the scar perfectly matching the surrounding hair follicles making the scar completely undetectable on a shaved head or blending and concealing the scar under longer hair.
If you have any of these problems schedule your consultation today to put them in the past once and for all.

FAQ
Have Questions?
Here are answers to some of our most common questions…
What Is Scalp Micropigmentation?
Scalp Micropigmentation is sometimes also referred to as a scalp tattoo or hair tattoo. Scalp Micropigmentation is a non-invasive treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. The result creates the appearance of tiny hair follicles or short hair stubble. If you are starting to thin, recede, or if you are completely bald, we can give you the look of thicker and fuller hair, or a close shaved haircut.
What is a Scalp Tattoo?
Scalp Micropigmentation is commonly known as a hair or scalp tattoo. Scalp Micropigmentation (Scalp Tattoo) is a non-invasive treatment that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp. The result creates the appearance of tiny hair follicles or short hair stubble. If you are starting to thin, recede, or completely bald, we can give you the look of a short buzz cut.
What is the difference between Scalp Micropigmentation vs. Tattoos?
There are three primary distinctions between Scalp Micropigmentation and Tattooing:
1. We deposit pigment into the dermis at a shallower depth than tattoos, only about 1mm.
2. We are only making small micro dots using the pointillism technique, not shading or drawing lines.
3. We only use Color Theory to match your hair color. As a result, when it heals, it will not break down into different colors or appear overly saturated.
Is Scalp Micropigmentation permanent?
Permanent cosmetics, sometimes known as permanent makeup, include scalp micropigmentation. This procedure normally lasts 4-6 years and is frequently referred to as a cosmetic hair or scalp tattoo. After that, a client could notice a little fading, in which case they might return for a fast touch-up. Although this cosmetic solution won’t wash off, it can be adjusted over time. We always advise scheduling a consultation with Nico, a skilled professional practitioner, to go over your treatment options.
How do I choose a hairline?
If you are unsure about what style or type of hairline will suit you, your treatment specialist will be happy to advise you. Nico can advise you based on their artistic knowledge of how to match a hairline to a person’s head shape and age. You can also tweak and adjust the hairline during your sessions to achieve the best possible result.
Can you help with hair transplant FUE/FUT scarring?
Yes! To reduce scar visibility, we use our specialized scalp micropigmentation technique to deposit color-matched pigment into the scar.
Can Scalp Micropigmentation camouflage my transplant scar?
Yes! Transplant and surgical scars can be greatly improved in concealment by replicating tiny hair follicles within the scarring and blending the color around the scarring area.
Is Scalp Micropigmentation for long hair?
Scalp micropigmentation is used to fill up thinning areas with density. We have the ability to add thickness to a variety of places, including the crown and hair separating. We advise keeping your hair short if you’re utilizing scalp micropigmentation to restore your hairline for a more well-balanced appearance.
If I have hair left, can I leave it long?
Some clients can keep their hair longer depending on the pattern and extent of their thinning hair. Scalp pigmentation can help thicken areas, allowing less of the scalp to show through. However, if the client has a strong pattern of hair loss or simply does not have a lot of hair density left, it is recommended that they crop it shorter.
Will The Result Look Natural?
Absolutely! The final result of Scalp Micropigmentation performed by a trained professional, such as Nico’s SMP and Hair Studio, is completely undetectable. You will appear to have a natural full head of hair.
Will Scalp Micropigmentation work with gray hair?
Indeed, scalp micropigmentation is still beneficial for people with gray hair. First, the majority of clients are advised to have their hair trimmed short or buzzed. Gray hair does not seem gray when this is done since the hair root itself is darker. When hair grows longer, gray only becomes visible. The second method involves the use of a gray-scale pigment that can be shaded to match lighter hair tones. Just to mix in with the existing gray hairs, we merely generate a lighter dilution.
If I am lighter or darker skin tone will this treatment still look good?
Yes! We can adapt the color of our pigment to a variety of skin tones. Scalp micropigmentation can benefit people of all races, including Caucasians, African-Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and Pacific Islanders, among many others.
Will Scalp Micropigmentation Grow My Hair Back?
No, a scalp micropigmentation procedure won’t make your hair grow again. Yet, the SMP procedure will give you the appearance of thicker, denser hair or a buzzcut. If you decide on the latter, we advise maintaining your hair shorter to achieve the most natural result.
How long does scalp micropigmentation take?
The Scalp Micropigmentation treatment typically requires 2-4 sessions to complete, with each session lasting 2-4 hours, depending on your degree of hair loss. These treatments are usually spaced about 10-20 days (2 weeks) apart.
How many treatments should I expect?
Scalp micropigmentation should never be thought of as a one-time procedure. Depending on the extent of hair loss or scarring, most clients can expect 2-4 sessions to complete their treatment. These treatments are typically scheduled 10-20 days apart.
How long do the results last?
This treatment is usually effective for 3-5 years. After that time, a client may notice some minor fading (no color change), in which case they can return for a quick touch-up. This cosmetic solution will not wash off but can be adjusted over time. To discuss your treatment options, we always recommend meeting with Nico, an experienced expert practitioner.
Do I need to take time off work?
Scalp micropigmentation is a non-invasive procedure that requires no downtime. In most cases, you will not need to take time off from work, school, or other obligations. It is common to notice slight redness on the scalp for 2-3 days following treatment. This redness fades quickly, and most clients return to work either immediately or within a few days. Clients are also permitted to wear hats or headgear if they so desire.
Can I wear a hat after my scalp micropigmentation treatment?
After your scalp micropigmentation treatment is finished, you may wear a hat or a skullcap. However, we hope you will not be wearing them as frequently!
What equipment is used for a Scalp Micropigmentation procedure?
The tools used for scalp treatments are referred to as “permanent cosmetic” or “micropigmentation” tools. There are many various types and styles, and the tools used for the procedure include a handpiece, a disposable microneedle, and a digital power source. In order to carefully insert the deposits at the right depth in the skin, most Scalp Micropigmentation professionals employ equipment that is distinct from that used by ordinary tattoo artists.
Why can't I see my scalp micropigmentation after a week?
Your treatment will fade after the first scalp micropigmentation session, which is completely normal. We add more density in the second and third sessions to create a fuller look. Each person’s pigment retention varies, and some may notice more fading than others.
Will it change color like tattoos?
No. Scalp micropigmentation is a type of permanent cosmetics, but unlike tattoo ink, the pigment is intended to match the color spectrum of short hair. The pigment contains no additional colorants or additives and will only lighten over time, NOT discolor.
Scalp micropigmentation also uses different equipment than traditional tattooing, with the needle and machine being specifically designed for scalp micropigmentation.
Can I still use Propecia and/or Rogaine after my treatment?
Clients can use Propecia before, during, and after their scalp pigmentation procedure. Rogaine (topical minoxidil) should be avoided during treatment and for 30 days after the last session. This is to ensure that the pigment heals and settles properly without interference from the chemicals found in Rogaine foam.
How long until I can scrub, shampoo, or shave the SMP treatment area?
Scrubbing, shampooing, or shaving over the treated area is not recommended for 4-5 days after your scalp micropigmentation treatment.
How long until I can sweat after the scalp micropigmentation treatment?
After your scalp micropigmentation procedure, we advise refraining from strenuous exercise or excessive perspiration for 4-5 days.
Can I go in the pool, sauna, or steam room after my scalp micropigmentation treatment?
We recommend avoiding chlorinated pools, saunas, steam rooms, and tanning beds for at least 28 days after your final scalp micropigmentation session.
Do you have Scalp Micropigmentation Before and After Pictures?
How much does Scalp Micropigmentation cost?
Our pricing is based on the level of hair loss, which is different for each client. Typically, the price ranges between $500 – $5,000. We recommend setting up a consultation so our team can evaluate your case and provide a personalized price quote based on your hair loss needs.
I see many Scalp Micropigmentation providers on the internet, how do I choose the right one?
Scalp micropigmentation (hairline tattoos, scalp tattoos) has grown dramatically in recent years. This means more clinics, but it also means prospective patients must do their homework! Look for clinics and technicians who have been in business for a number of years, have a diverse and dynamic portfolio of results, and can assist you with any questions you may have. If you are unsure, it is always a good idea to schedule an in-person or a video call consultation in order to eliminate those providers with whom you simply do not feel comfortable.
